ALEXANDRIA, Va. – November 1, 2022

Holmes Costin & Marcus is pleased to announce that Ellen D. Marcus has been named to The National Law Journal’s 2022 list of Litigation Trailblazers. Marcus is one of only 28 attorneys nationally to earn this prestigious recognition. Her award profile is available here.

The National Law Journal’s Litigation Trailblazer award recognizes attorneys who have significantly impacted practice, policy and technological advancements in their sector. Marcus solidified her status as a Trailblazer through her integral role on the trial team that achieved a historic $2 billion-plus jury verdict for trade secrets misappropriation in Virginia’s Fairfax County Circuit Court earlier this year. The verdict, believed to be the largest in Virginia history, was made possible, in part, by Marcus’ keen understanding of the ins-and-outs of the unique rules and procedures of Virginia’s courts. It is a prime example of the tenacious client advocacy work that Marcus and the entire HCM team bring to each client engagement.

“While my name appears on this award, this is really an honor for our entire HCM team, as it reinforces the need for the type of law firm Kathy Holmes, Sheila Costin and I have worked so hard to build over the years,” Marcus said. “We are honored to be recognized for our ability to provide first-rate counsel and trial advocacy for our clients.”

Even before the historic verdict, Marcus had a proven track record of bringing business disputes to successful resolution for her clients, often after securing wins in the courtroom. She is skilled at developing and executing successful litigation strategies for her clients in cases involving allegations of breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, unlawful business conspiracy, contract interference and breach of fiduciary duties.
