On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News avoided a trial in their defamation lawsuit by reaching a $787.5 million settlement. Law.com interviewed several trial attorneys who agreed that the settlement was more likely motivated by odds that stacked up in Dominion’s favor over time rather than any last-minute development. Founding Partner Ellen D. Marcus explained that a series of decisions by Judge Eric Davis contributed to Fox’s decision to settle.
