Holmes picture Kathy works with technology ventures, providing advice on business contracts and business management. Kathy provides advice about trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, and restrictions on competition and solicitation. In addition to the more familiar issues associated with software licenses, employment agreements, nondisclosure agreements, teaming agreements, and supplier agreements, her tech contracts practice includes compliance with data privacy laws, SaaS agreements, and PCI compliance. Kathy’s business management practice includes advice on entity formation, operating agreements, shareholder and partnership agreements.
She has litigated over 70 cases, including matters that required emergency practice to seek expedited relief for business clients from the courts. Kathy litigates in state and federal courts and in arbitration and mediation proceedings. Her trial docket has included trade secrets, IP infringement matters, contract disputes, and fiduciary disputes. She has also litigated on behalf of petitioners in guardianship proceedings. Kathy is a qualified Guardian Ad Litem for adults (“GAL”) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She works with lawyers outside Virginia to provide advice as local counsel in Virginia state and federal courts, including the Eastern District of Virginia “Rocket Docket” where she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Leonie M. Brinkema.
